The holidays are always rushed and I never seem to have time to do everything I want to do. This year was no different. Just popping on to share my latest crafting quicky. I made this bathroom sign today to hang in the downstairs bathroom that I am updating. So far I've chalk painted (gray) and waxed the vanity and hung a couple of floating shelves above the toilet. This sign will hang with the shelves. The new fixtures will be chrome, the walls a light gray, the vanity a darker gray. I'm currently waiting on the gray and white quartz countertop and then I am going to install white shiplap on the ceiling and on the wall above the vanity. To ...

Whoa!!! Where did summer go?! I have no idea but I know I am ready for fall! How about you?

I've really neglected my blog this summer and I promise to do better as my attention turns indoors. Hoping that means I'll be spending more time in my sanctuary - aka, my sewing room. When that happens, I hope to have more quilting and crafting inspiration to share here, but until then I'll share some of my summer in photos.....

With Valentine's Day just around the corner, I spent the last couple of days making Valentines for my grandsons. Not just any ol' valentine will do for my grands so I thought I'd try my hand at making exploding Valentine boxes. 

Yesterday we celebrated my mom's 80th birthday. Not how we had hoped to celebrate, but we marked the occasion in a low-key Covid-era way. Typically, my mom hosts a quilting retreat for her sisters and me over her birthday weekend. Over the years, the number of days has increased and its always a fun time. Because of Covid, she didn't feel comfortable having her sisters travel and stay with her so just mom and I spent the weekend sewing. We had fun and we both made lots of progress on our 2020 stash buster quilts.

I picked up these wood and tin hearts at Hobby Lobby the other day to do a quick vinyl project with my Silhouette Cameo 4 that I received as a Christmas gift from my kids. I wanted to make some conversation hearts to add to my Valentines table scape (it was looking a little bare after putting away the Christmas decorations!).

Last night our quilt guild celebrated the holidays with their annual Christmas carry-in meal and gift exchange, all socially distanced. Members were encouraged to gift a handmade pincushion and had three months to craft their gift.

I decided I wanted to make a pincushion from some of my vintage fabric stash and finally landed upon the idea of a Christmas tree pincushion. I chose some 30's fabric scraps that had either red or green in them. I used a muslin foundation topped with a piece of fusible batting. I then did a stitch and flip method of foundation piecing ...

Our family celebrated both Christmas and Thanksgiving over the week of Thanksgiving. That means my Christmas tree looks pretty lonely with no Christmas presents under it this year. But it also means I get to play with my Christmas presents earlier this year! My kids gifted me a Silhouette Cameo 4 and I thought I'd share my first project!

Finally! I've had this project in my head for a couple of years and I finally can check it off my to-do list! I love the whole farmhouse sliding barn door look and wanted a similar door for the entrance into my studio (aka sewing room). I originally wanted a vintage screen door with chippy green paint but I couldn't find a door that I liked in a reasonable price range. So I eventually settled for a new screen door. And now that the project is finished, I'm glad that I did!

Spring (and some days, maybe summer) has definitely arrived on the farm. That means there's a miscellany of projects I've been working on. So today, I'm just going to share a miscellany of photos to share what I've been up to!

Now that Christmas Day is over, I can share one of the gifts I made for my sister-in-law. She loves gnomes - or at least I hope she does as she received several for Christmas this year! - so I decided to make a burlap table topper appliqued with a gnome. Similar to my Stan The Snowman table topper I shared on the blog a couple of weeks ago, this is Norm The Gnome.
